Former Upper West Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Suleman Mohammed, praised the policy proposal of the Vice President and NPP’s Presidential Candidate to make education free for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
He stated that PWDs are often neglected despite being a crucial part of society, and thus, making education accessible to them is commendable.
Mr. Mohammed, also known as Kweku Baako, made these comments while speaking on Info Radio’s A Daa Nga Puo Yele. He shared his views following the visit of the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to the Upper West Region.
Mr. Baako's support for the policy aligns with a disability rights advocacy led by Necessary Aid Alliance (NAA), a youth-led organization in the Upper West Region.
At an advocacy conference in Wa, the Project Lead of Necessary Aid Alliance, Ms. Shazia Ismail emphasized the critical need to promote the rights of PWDs through education.
Moreover, Mr. Baako encouraged the youth of the Upper West Region to approach this year’s election with a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood to ensure peace before, during, and after the elections.
He emphasized that the region is peaceful and characterized by peace-loving people, and it is essential to maintain this atmosphere.
