Form farmer groups for easy access to government, organizations support – Agric Extension Agent


An Agricultural Extension Agent (AEA) at the Wa Municipal Department of Agriculture, Madam Safura Adams has urged women farmers to form famer groups in order to easily access support from the government and other organizations.


She said women farmers, particularly in the Upper West Region, were faced with the challenge of accessing tractor and other support services as compared to their men counterparts. Madam Adam said this in an interview with Info Radio at Jonga in the Wa Municipality.


Madam Benedette Naab, Wa Municipal Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD) Officer, noted that there is the need to provide women with economic opportunities as they were the most affected group in the family internets of hardship.


She commended the GIZ for supporting them to organise training for women in economic activities.


The leader of the Tuurosun women group at Jonga, Madam Mari Yakubu commended the WIAD and the GIZ for taking the initiative to train them.


She appealed for support from individuals and organizations to support them with tractor services and improved seed to help improve their farming activities.
