Farmers in Nadowli Kaleo await fertilizer delivery from PFJ Phase 2

Mr Nicholas Tiereke, the Nadowli Kaleo District Director of Agriculture, has stated that farmers in the district who have registered under the Planting for Food and Jobs program have yet to receive fertilizer for their crops.

The farmers were anticipating that the program would provide them with fertilizer to meet the needs of the farmers. Farmers who have enrolled in the program have raised concerns about the program's delay in providing inputs.

Speaking to Info Radio on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Mr Tiereke explained that the program has challenges.

“Every program faces challenges in its beginning, as the phase 2 started this year. We hope to begin receiving some of the inputs by the end of next week.”

Mr. Tiereke urged farmers to remain calm, noting that it is not too late for them to apply fertilizer to their crops.

He expressed hope that farmers will start receiving inputs next week. He also called on farmers to reach out to the district agricultural office if they have any inquiries or challenges.

Mr. Tiereke stated that over 4,000 farmers have registered for the program. Out of this total, about 1,669 have completed the registration, while over 1,000 are yet to complete the registration as of the time he was speaking to Info Radio.
