The Assemblyman for the Duong Electoral Area, Mr. Nabiiribong Albert, has passionately expressed his concerns regarding the persistent lack of infrastructure development in the community.
Speaking at a community durbar, he stated, “The inadequacy or lack of some basic infrastructure is a significant setback to our community’s development.”
He highlighted the urgent needs of their Junior High School (JHS), saying, “Our school requires more textbooks and additional teachers to ensure that our children have the opportunity to succeed.”
Mr. Albert further pointed out a troubling trend in academic performance, attributing it to insufficient educational infrastructure.
“For four consecutive years prior to my term as assemblyman, our community has struggled to perform well at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). During that time, the best aggregate score from our school was above 30,” he revealed.
In his remarks, he also brought attention to the issue of electricity access, emphasizing, “Part of the Duong Electoral Area lacks electricity due to its vast size. Those living in these areas face daily challenges, whether it’s charging mobile phones or engaging in economic activities that depend on electricity.”
Despite several appeals made to the district assembly and the Member of Parliament, Mr. Albert noted, “We have yet to see any progress in extending electricity to all parts of our electoral area.”
Looking ahead, he shared his plans for the community for the upcoming year, stating, “I plan to collaborate with the Department of Agriculture to make farming easier for my people, especially during the dry season. We need government support for inputs like fertilizer and tractor services, which are often too expensive.”
He noted, “Education and road improvement will be my top priorities moving forward.”
