Dr. Rashid Pelpuo has retained the Wa Central Constituency Seat for the National Democratic Congress, NDC.
Dr. Pelpupuo of the NDC garnered 39,542 out of 73394 valid votes cast, while his closest contender, Madam Hajia Humu Awudu of the NPP got 33,340 votes. Other aspirants were Mr Mohammed Sharif, parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) who pulled 304 votes and Mr Kuuyine Y. Edgard who represented the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) with 208 votes. Dr Joseph Wulifan, declared him the MP elect for the Wa Central Constituency.
Addressing party supporters and constituents in during his victory speech on tuesday, Dr. Pelpuo that his victory in the election is a sign that the electorate voted for the right persons and commended the electorate for the support.
In all 74,543 people cast their votes in the Wa Central Constituency with a total valid votes cast of 72,652 and 1891 rejected ballot. Dr. Pelpuo had been the MP for the Wa Central Constituency since 2005 after he won the seat for the NDC in the 2004 presidential and parliamentary elections.
