Dr. Rashid Pelpuo presents cheques to students in Wa Central

Some 47 students in the Wa Central Constituency have received financial support from the Wa Central Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Alhaji Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, to help meet part of their financial needs in the school.

Each of the students had at least GHc800.00 as part payment of their school fees depending on one's school fee, to enable them further their education to the tertiary level.

Dr. Alhaji Pelpuo said the support formed part of his commitment to ensuring that financial challenges did not deprive any qualified student in the constituency.

In all, about GHc70,000.00 was expended to support the students. That added up to about GHc240,000.00 already spent to support students in the constituency in the past.

“Payment of school fees is one of the major challenges that we face. When education is unsupported and strengthened in any society, it is possible for that society to develop very fast.

When education is not supported and young people are not supported in their education enterprise the result is that it has a negative effect on society, knowing this I made education one of my cardinal policy areas so that as much as possible I will invest in the education of my people”, the MP explained.

Additionally, Dr. Pelpuo donated a cheque of GHc20,000.00 to help renovate the Kperisi Health facility.

Also, the MP later donated medical consumables including drips, antibiotics, painkillers, and plasters among others to the Sombo Health facility to help improve the quality of service delivery to people visiting the facility.

He said he had supported the facility in the past and would continue to support it as long as he has the capacity to do so.

Dr. Pelpuo said he was committed to supporting the constituency's health sector as that was crucial for human existence.

The In-charge of the Sombo Health facility, Mr Latif Abubakari, expressed gratitude to the MP for the donation and said it would help reduce the financial burden on the people visiting the facility as they will not have to buy some of the drugs as they used to do.

He said they used to prescribe the medication for the people to buy from the pharmacy but said some people did not buy the drugs because they could not afford them
