Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, the incumbent Wa Central Member of Parliament (MP) has been re-elected as the MP for the area after his convincing victory in the just-ended general election.
The Wa Central MP-elect had 38,579 votes out of 69,684 total valid votes cats while Hajia Humu Awudu, the NPP parliamentary candidate had 30, 704 votes. Mr Yakubu Zakarea of the People’s National Convention had 249 votes, while Rashid Saeed, the independent candidate, had 132 votes.
Dr Hassan Rashid Pelpuo has been the MP for Wa Central Constituency since 2004, being the longest-serving MP in the Upper West Region, after the current Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin.
In his victory speech, Dr. Pelpuo's victory was a victory for Ghana and the Wa Central to save the people of Ghana from the hardship imposed on them by the President Akufo-Addo-led government.
Dr. Pelpuo thanked the people of the Wa Central Constituency for the overwhelming support they gave him in the election. He assured the people that all the promises he made to them during his campaign will be fulfilled.
