The Nadowli-Kaleo District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr S. K. Dawud has admonished flood victims in the district not to be twice-losers by planting new crops at this time.
Speaking on Info Radio’s Te Zine Yiri Yela, the NADMO Director asked farms whose farms were affected by the floods to be patient by not planting fresh crops to avoid being double losers.
He observed that the farming season is almost out and that no crop can be assured to produce good yield, if any at all, if planted at this time.
Mr Dawud hinted that the United Nations Inter-Agency Working Group comprising various global humanitarian organizations was in the region to ascertain firsthand information and assess the level of damage caused by the floods.
He therefore pleaded with flood victims to further be patient while the group prepares to respond appropriately.
Commenting on the washed off roads in the district, the NADMO Director lauded efforts at putting the roads back on traffic adding that, it is safe and easy for persons and vehicles to ply the roads.
He however expressed concerns about most feeder roads leading to various communities in the district which have also been affected by the rains and are yet to be fixed.
