Dakyie residents laud EU and Government of Ghana for upgraded CHPS compound

Updated: Jul 1, 2024

It was all joy at Dakyie in the Daffiama Bussie Issa District when the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly and the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye commissioned the newly renovated Dakyie Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.

The solar-powered CHPS compound fitted with a borehole will bring Water Sanitation and Health (WASH) services closer to households.

The residents could not hide their joy when they spoke to Info Radio during the commissioning of the CHPS compound in Dakyie.

“The CHPS compound was not like this. Anyone that comes here now would thank the European Union and the Government of Ghana for this great work,” said Bayor Martin, a resident.

The newly renovated Dakyie CHPS compound is one of the 16 CHPS compounds refurbished under the EUR 35 million feeder roads project in eight municipalities and districts in the Upper West Region.

The roads provide vital links between agricultural production areas and market centres, thereby increasing farmers’ income.

Judith Langda, a mother of four children, expressed, "We are thrilled about this project. I bring my children here for healthcare whenever any of them is sick. We no longer have to send them to Daffiama for basic healthcare services."

Grace Bon-ebie, another resident, expressed that they do not have to walk to Daffiama with their children for healthcare. She noted that they sent their children or sick relatives to Daffiama even at night for healthcare.

She thanked the European Union and the Government of Ghana for refurbishing the community CHPS compound.
