The Centre for People’s Rights and Initiatives (CPRI) has indicated that it is collaborating with the necessary stakeholders to ensure people with mental health conditions are properly cared for.
The organisation has been supporting the Mental Health Unit in the Upper west region with medication to support people living with mental health conditions.
Mr Dominic Wuningura, who said this in an interview with Info Radio, added that they were supporting some of the people living with mental health conditions to acquire hand-on-training to enable them earn a decent living.
He said the NGO is also supporting some with livestock to rear.
Mr Wuningura also observed that lack of specially mental health specialist, discrimination and stigmatization are some of the challenges they face in rendering services for people with mental health.
He observed that in spite of the challenges there is some level of improvement in the mental health situation in the region.
