The Divisional Chief of Tampaala in the Jirapa Municipality, Naa Phillip Tingan Buodevy III, has expressed concern over the increasing rate of school dropouts in his community.

Speaking to Info Radio, the chief attributed the worrying trend to irresponsible parenting and the growing refusal of some children to heed their parents' advice.

"Everywhere I go I talk about the importance of education and how it can transform this community. But now, the children do not listen to their parents, and some parents also do not have time for their children," Naa Buodevy said.

He warned that the situation could have long-term negative effects on the community, as some of the school dropouts are already engaging in criminal activities and deviant behavior.

The chief noted that many children of school-going age are prioritizing material possessions and engaging in alcoholism instead of focusing on their education.

"The future of our community depends on the education of our children. If this trend continues, it will affect not only the children’s future but also the overall development of Tampaala,” Naa Buodevy emphasized.

He called on parents to take their responsibilities seriously by guiding and supporting their children to stay in school and focus on their education.

He also urged community leaders and stakeholders to join forces in addressing the issue to secure a brighter future for the youth of Tampaala.
