The recent Executive Order by President Donald Trump halting the operations of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only the Ghanaian government but also vulnerable youth and communities across the nation. This cautionary message was issued by Mr. Salifu Issifu Kanton, the Executive Director of the Community Development Alliance (CDA), during an interview with Info Radio in Wa.

Mr. Kanton highlighted that numerous development projects backed by USAID have come to an abrupt standstill following the Executive Order, which he believes will have detrimental effects on the lives of many Ghanaians who rely on these initiatives for education, health, and social services.

"This suspension is not merely an administrative matter; it is a serious issue that touches the lives of our youth and the strength of our communities," Mr. Kanton stated. He urged citizens to recognize the implications of the suspension as a wake-up call, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to mitigate potential challenges that may arise from the loss of USAID support.

In his remarks, Mr. Kanton encouraged Ghanaians to come together, mobilizing resources and efforts to address the void left by the halted projects. "We must not wait solely for government intervention; we must take initiative at the community level to ensure that opportunities for growth and development remain available for our young people."

As the situation unfolds, the CDA remains committed to advocating for continued support and development initiatives that empower Ghanaian citizens and foster sustainable community development.
