The musical band of the Bomandi Preparatory School, a fast-rising private pre-tertiary institution in Wa, has illuminated this year's Independence Day Celebration parade with a carousing band performance at Charia in the Wa Municipality.
The ensemble, composed primarily of students of the school, took charge of the schools parade March pasts and other displays from the beginning to the end without a spot of hitch.
The young boys and girls presided over the ground's instrumental needs with so much buoyancy and vitality to the admiration of all participants and the audience.
Commenting on the spectacular display by the young orchestra, the Proprietor of the School, Alhaji Adamu N.S. Dasana said the school was investing heavily in developing the talents of its pupils in various aspects of their lives of which the band display was but an aspect.
He said the set of musical instruments has been purchased by the school purposely for the children who are being trained by professionals in their usage and performance.
Even though the performance was impeccable and unblemished, Mr Dasana noted that the children had been training for less than a year and hoped that in about a year of training, they would perform better.
He disclosed that the band was initially supposed to perform at the Upper West Regional event of the Independence Day Celebration which took place in Lawra but was lately asked to perform for the Wa Municipal event.
He said the band is open to the public to perform for any events including parties, concerts, rallies, route marches, and other entertaining activities.
Not only did the musical band leave the crowd standing akimbo in astonishment, but the Bomandi Preparatory Cadet Corps also courted the interest of the gathering as the young boys and girls spectacularly displayed at the march past.
Referring to the cadet corps, Mr Dasana said Bomandi Preparatory School was the first pre-tertiary school in the region to have established a cadet corps as he confirmed from the army quarters.
He said the cadet corps has also been receiving training from the officers of the 10 Mechanized Battalion in Wa through its formal recognition and relationship with the army quarters.
Mr Dasana said the training and skills set the school was imparting to the children were not just for today but to prepare the children adequately for the future.
He said the school was bringing a new wave of education and training for children, which was yet unmatched and urged parents to enrol their children in the school for holistic training and development.
Independence Day Celebration marks the day in which Ghana (then Gold Coast) gained independence from colonial rule and this year's anniversary (67th) highlighted the theme, "Our Democracy, Our Pride."
