BECE in Upper West Region generally smooth – WAEC Controller

The Upper West Regional Controller of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), Mr Donald Tuor, has indicated that the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Upper West Region is general smooth.

He said though a few infractions have been recorded the WAEC officials are working to put it under control.

Mr Tuor, who said this in an interview with Info Radio, expressed hope that the remaining days will also be smooth.

He explained that the Officials of WAEC visited some exam centres in the Wa Municipality and observed that some examination malpractices were happening in those centres.

He, therefore, cautioned that those involved in those acts would be dealt with appropriately.

He added that an invigilator who was caught violating the rules of the exams had been suspended and cautioned the invigilators against any form of misconduct.

Mr Tuor also cautioned the students against all forms of exam malpractice as there is a system in place to detect that and said it could go against them negatively as the affected papers would be cancelled.

The BECE is expected to officially end today, Friday, October 21, 2022, with French papers even though non-French candidates have finished their papers yesterday.
