Residents of Daboziiri in the Siiru Electoral Area of the Wa West District have said access to healthcare services in the area is badly hampered by the bad nature of roads, especially one leading to the health facility at Kangba where they access healthcare services.
They said the bad state of the road affects patients, especially pregnant women when they are to be transported on a motorbike or tricycle to the facility.
According the residents, they trek to Kangba to access health care depending on the severity of the sickness.
Mr. Yorkyili Bamou Mwinibang, an elder of the community, told Info Radio that the roads leading to the major health facilities at Wa and Wechiau are also in a bad state which is a worry to them, especially where expectant mothers are referred to Wa or Wechiau health facilities.
Madam Mwinnoba Yorkyili, a resident of the community, also lamented about the challenges they go through when accessing the health facility due to the poor nature of roads in the area.
She said women sometimes deliver on way before getting to the health facility which attracts sanctions from health officials.
The residents, therefore, appealed to the government through the Wa West District Assembly to rehabilitate their roads to improve access to healthcare services.
