Augustine Farms has recognized 27 of its most dedicated farmers for their resilience and outstanding performance during the 2024 farming season, despite the severe challenges posed by drought and widespread crop failure.
At a ceremony held on Saturday, April 5, the awardees received a variety of prizes, including bags of fertilizer, hand planters, cash rewards, and television sets. The event’s highlight was the presentation of a brand-new motorbike to the most outstanding farmer of the season, acknowledging their exceptional contribution.

Speaking to Info Radio, Mr. Nankpa Jibriel, Manager of Augustine Farms, emphasized the importance of celebrating the efforts of hardworking farmers.
"If you have customers who patronize your business, when that customer is not there, you're not equally there. So we value and cherish our farmers very well," he stated.
Mr. Jibriel disclosed that Augustine Farms suffered a significant loss of over 3,860 bags of maize worth more than GH₵1 million due to prolonged drought and adverse weather conditions. However, he noted that favourable market prices allowed the company to recover partially and allocate GH₵50,000 to reward outstanding farmers.
Only 8% of the farmers, representing 27 individuals, met the full loan repayment threshold required to qualify for the awards. These farmers were recognized for their honesty, resilience, and full repayment of input loans despite economic difficulties.
In line with its commitment to social impact, Augustine Farms also awarded a GH₵3,000 scholarship to a student from the University of Education, Winneba.

Looking ahead to the 2025 farming season, Mr. Jibriel announced that Augustine Farms is revising its support criteria due to financial constraints. New applicants and farmers who defaulted in 2024 may not receive assistance.
“We anticipate a very good season for 2025. But we will only support those we can trust and those who have proven their commitment,” he said.
Preparations for the upcoming season are already underway, with fertilizers and ploughing services secured and planning nearly complete.
