Mr Theophilus Azaanaang, the Assembly Member for the Charia electoral area in the Wa Municipality, has issued a stern call to the Upper West Regional Police Command to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the two suspected kidnappers recently apprehended by residents of Charia.

In an exclusive interview with Info Radio, Mr. Azaanaang expressed deep concerns regarding the police's handling of previous cases, citing a lack of transparency and communication with the public.

Mr. Azaanaang referenced a disturbing incident that occurred during the peak of the serial killings in the Wa municipality, where a suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.

However, the public has yet to receive any updates on the progress of that case, leaving many with unanswered questions and growing skepticism.

"This issue extends beyond Charia, affecting the entire Upper West Region. We must unite and demand that the police conduct a thorough investigation into this matter.

“For instance, when we apprehended a suspect during the peak of the serial killings and handed him over to the police, we have yet to receive any updates on the case," he added.

The latest suspects, who allegedly attempted to kidnap a child with a disability in the community, have raised alarm bells among residents.

According to Mr Mwindieye Thomas, a landlord in Charia, the suspects were attempting to appease the community's gods without permission, a move that has been widely condemned.

Mr Azaanaang has urged the police service to be more proactive in updating the public on such cases, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

He stressed that the lack of communication has eroded public trust and confidence in the police force, making it essential for the authorities to take immediate action to address these concerns.
