The Assembly Member for Sigri Electoral Area in the Wa West District, Mr Peter Igaah, says he is committed to improving agribusiness in his electoral area through partnership with NGOs.
According to the Assembly Member of the area, improving agricultural business is his priority to his electorates. He indicated that the agricultural value chain can create enough jobs for the youth and women in the electoral area.
In an interview with Info Radio in Wa, Mr Igaah noted that he has collaborated with an NGO in partnership with Guinness Ghana, a company to help agribusinesses in his electoral area. He added that one of his targets is to address land degradation through tree planting.
"I have registered all eight communities in the electoral area for them to farm sorghum, maize and groundnuts this year. The tractor was in Piisie ploughing the farms until the rains stopped."
"We have also tasked ourselves to plant over a thousand trees annually," he added.
Mr Igaah also added that he is committed to motivating the youth to take advantage of the Black Volta and farm vegetables during the dry season.
In the area of livestock, he noted that he is also in partnership with the Ghana Grasscutter Foundation to rear grasscutters, pigs, fowls and rabbits and encourage the farmers to venture into rearing.
