Residents of Asse in the Guo Electoral Area in the Wa West District have organized a community durbar to address challenges that are affecting health service delivery in the community.
The District Health Director, representative of the Member of Parliament of the area, the Assembly Member for the area and other stakeholders in the district attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the representative of the chief of the community, Mr. Kobina Suglo, said the community members have contributed money to put up maternal ward to enhance quality delivering.
He indicated that the maternity ward is nearing completion but they are faced with financial constrain to complete it.
He added that the lighting system at the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound is not good and as a result they do not have lights at the CHPS compound.
He also indicated inadequate drugs as another challenge to patients visiting the facility.
He thus appealed to the District Chief Executive, District Health Directorate and any benevolent individuals to come to their aid.
Mr Dassah Y. Ephraim, who represented the Member of Parliament (MP), said the MP is committed to improving the health service delivery in the district.
The MP donated 5 bags of cement to support the completion of the maternity ward.
The District Health Director, Madam Cecilia Kakariba, noted that the responsibilities of the community members at the CHPS compound are to provide security to the facility, cleaning and renovations among others.
Madam Alberta Azaa, the District CHPS Coordinator, also advised the people of Guo electoral area to stop self-medication because it is risky to their health.
