The Ase community football gala, which has been in existence since 2012, has once again brought together eight communities in a thrilling tournament aimed at promoting unity and development.
Saaka Isaiah, one of the Organizers of the football gala, speaking to Info Radio in Ase noted that the football gala was instituted as a way of bringing the community together for a common purpose.
He noted that the 2024 edition has seen significant improvement, thanks to the generous sponsorship from Gustar Selewski, a German national who is a friend of the community.
“This football gala has benefits to this community. You would see women selling food and water around. Even people who have stores in this community are seeing patronage. This year we have eight (8) communities participating in the games because of the sponsorship we had. We hope that next year will even be greater than this year.”
Sandaa Vincent Yelimonmwini, also an Organizer for the Ase community football gala, appealed to the government to construct an astroturf field to create a more conducive environment for training and youth development.
"We believe that having a modern football facility will help take our football development to the next level," Mr Yelimonmwini said.
"It will also provide a safe and conducive environment for our youth to train and play."
Naa Mahmood Putiihiba, the Chief of Ase, commended Gustar Selewski for sponsoring the football gala and appealed to the government to renovate the community school and upgrade its health facility.
