Dear Chairman General,
ALLOCATION of a DEPUTY SPEAKER POSITION to the NPP is a BIG NO!
I write, on behalf of my colleagues' footsoldiers, to unequivocally, REJECT in TOTALITY, any intentions or whatsoever, to allocate a Deputy Speaker position to the NPP's caucus in parliament. As a loyal (and a die in the wool) member of our great party, I believe in we jealously protecting and maintaining our party's core values and interests.
Allocating a critical position as a deputy speaker to them would not only undermine our party's agenda for the Ghanaians people but also create unnecessary tensions, mistrust, and conflicts among us. The NPP has, over the years, proven time without number not to be trustworthy and hence deserves to be eliminated from all key decision-making processes.
Imagine the like of "Joe Worse" as a Deputy Speaker from the NPP side! I mean a character who can employ any warp interpretation to both our 1992 Constitution and the Standing Orders of Parliament just to please his party. Our party has worked tirelessly to secure this resounding victory, and we must not play loss for the NPP to continue to rule us (even in opposition).
The Ghanaians people did not give us the unprecedented margin of victory for nothing. We promise them RESET to improve in their welfare, and it is essential that we continue to protect the goodwill they have established with us. They examined the current damage done to our beloved country and came to the realisation that only an absolute control of government can help you carry out the drastic change that we urgently need.
Indeed, Ghanaians have decided to punish the NPP for its mis-governance and will not be happy with us if we share power with them.
In light of the above, I respectfully propose that, at least, we should also, for once, play politics to our advantage by claiming both Deputy Speakers Positions. After all, the NPP has taught us the painful lessons that politics is not always fair.
Conversely, there are four independent MPs-elect who have all expressed their willingness to caucus with us. We should consider one of them for a deputy speaker (even if we want to be seen, to be fair). This would not only strengthen our party's policy position for the country but also ensure that our values and principles are upheld.
Counting on your urgent consideration on this matter. Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Signed,
SK Adams,
