Abortion of CPP ideologies draws Ghana at a negative tangent - CPP Secretary

Mr Issahaque Suleman, the Upper West Regional Secretary of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), has said that the abortion of the political and national development ideologies of the founding father of the CPP and first President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has put Ghana at a backward development trajectory.

Speaking in an interview with Info Radio on Monday in commemoration of the 72th Anniversary of the party, the Secretary said since the overthrow of Nkrumah in 1996 and subsequent discarding of his principles, successive governments of the country has not made any meaningful strides towards her development.

He cited that Malaysia, like Ghana, who gained independence in the same year today cannot be compared in all spheres of national development.

Mr. Suleman said the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah came at the backdrop of hatred and ill-faith, saying that if those who overthrew him were alive today they would have apologize for the ‘injustice’ done him.

He postulated that, per the current happenings in the country, Ghana would have plunged into another coup if the same people who fought Nkrumah were alive but for the fact that the country is a peaceful democratic state.

The Secretary demystified the claims of the fourth President of the republic, J.A Kufour that the current woes of the country should be blamed on the tomb of the first President of the republic, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

“It very surprising and unfortunate that a statesman, like former president Kufour, to blame Nkrumah for the current happenings and economic hardships in Ghana,” he said.
