The 4ward Development West Africa, a private company in the water sector, has commissioned a solar-powered water facility for the people of Fian and Issa of the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa to help reduce their challenges in accessing clean, sustainable water.

This is under its NUMA water project in partnership with the USAID, Water4, Global Communities, and Helmsley Trust of USA, under the “Enhancing WASH” project.

The water situation of the communities has been a longstanding struggle for its residents. However, through the efforts of 4ward Development, the water system in both communities has undergone a much-needed upgrade.

On May 14, representatives from 4ward Development West Africa, in collaboration with district leaders, assembled to commission the new water systems.

The new water systems offer an expanded water supply to meet the growing needs of the communities, as well as a higher quality and more reliable source of clean water.

Mr Ahmed Yekini, the Upper West and Savannah Regional Director of 4Ward Development West Africa, said that access to clean water is an essential part of life, and they are pleased to have been able to work together with the leaders of Daffiama-Bussie-Issa to ensure that their water supply meets their needs.

The beneficiary communities for the NUMA water included: Bussie, Issa, Fian, Kojokpere and Tabiesi in the district.

The District Chief Executive for DBI, Mr Imoro Nadi Sanda was full of appreciation to the company and its partners for the intervention but appealed to them to extend the services to other districts and municipalities in the region.

The Assembly member for the Fian electoral area, Mr Stephen Katuole appreciates the company for pledging to extend the water to the schools in the Fian community.

Residents of Fian and Issa expressed their gratitude towards 4ward Development for their assistance in the water supply upgrade.

"This will help us in more ways than just having access to clean water, it will help our children stay healthy and hydrated," said a resident of Fian.
